Wouldn't make this: A routine, and would seek another alternative, but if its just an isolated time without any other options, you are probably okay. Make sure you change it asap though. Toxic shock syndrome is the biggest concern and received a lot of attention due to menstrual related cases that resulted in fatalities. If you develop fever and rash, seek medical attention immediately.

Yes: The risk is always there.  Be mindful of  the symptoms, fever, dizziness, potentially diffuse rash,  muscle aches, headaches.

i forgot i had a tampon in because i didn't see the string until i went to use the bathroom and noticed it. it's been there at least a week and it was super absorbent. is there anything i should be concerned about with it being in for so long?

Retained tampon: A retained tampon can be a source of significant infection since it holds on to the bacteria in the vagina.  A retained tampon is usually associated with discharge and odor which is a sign of infection.  I always recommend that Patients get checked for infection if the tampon has been in for more than a few days.

1st time using tampon, in for 5 hours, regular absorbency. took it out & seems like period has stopped (on 3rd day, period lasts 5days) isthis normal?

Tampon: Yes.  May have absorbed excess fluid.  Could still have more bleeding.  Would still wear a light mini- pad.

Unlikely: But please be careful.  It is rare to develop TSS, but always use caution to change tampons regularly.

Absorbency: Rupture of the hymen (cherry) can occur by many mechanisms, one of which may be insertion of a tampon, or commonly, exercise which impacts on the perineum.  If you are concerned with being thought a virgin, there are gynecologists who will reconstruct a hymen if it has been previously ruptured.  Go see someone and have this explained to you.

why would i have a severely heavy period after not having one since august. i am using super plus absorbency tampons and they are only good for 30-45 minutes and this has now been going on for 6 days with a lot of blood clots.

You : You need to see your primary care provider or visit your local urgent care center. Persistent heavy vaginal bleeding needs to be worked up. You could be having a miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, fibroids, etc. Also you are at risk for anemia. 
Please seek care right away.

Not for you: or you wouldn't be concerned enough to ask.  If there is any possibility of pregnancy, this could be a miscarriage; better to use pads so you can see easily whether anything else is coming out.  If not, you may have disfunctional bleeding which should be investigated by a doctor, but it's not an emergency.  Good luck!

i always have itching at my vaginal opening after a few days of using super absorbent tampons. itching lasts until my period is over. what's the issue?

Reaction: Sounds like you are having a reaction to the tampon.  If the itching goes away as soon as your period is over, likely not a yeast infection (which is what typically is associated with itching).  It could be that your skin is somewhat allergic to the tampon.  You might try another brand, maybe a more 'natural' tampon?  Since you're using super's, a pad might not work, but that's another suggestion.

my baby is 9 mnths. for the 2nd time since i had my period.i'm changing every hour & using super absorbent tampons a pad and stained thru.fingers numb?

See your doctor: Bleeding that heavily is not normal. You may be getting very anemic. You need to be seen TODAY either by your primary care provider, your OB/GYN, or an urgent care clinic. Good luck.
