Can be anything: While traveler's diarrhea is high on the air with people who have traveled outside of the us, general symptoms such as fever, chills, muscle aches may very well be attributed to a more banal cause such as flu or another viral infection. If your symptoms are more gastrointestinal in nature - nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, stool studies may be something to consider. Seeing doctor is must.

Up to date on routin: CDC Recommends that you make sure you are up to date on your routine vaccinations which include
MMR
DTP
Polio
Varicella
And yearly Flu Vaccine
But you do not need any documentation or a doctors certificate

Most likely Not: However that depends upon the type of wound and what she is doing to treat it. It also depends upon where the wound is on the body. Make sure to clean and disinfect the wound after going in the water. Start with simple soap and water, follow with an antiseptic treatement from the pharmacy (avoid iodine/betadine) and then clean dressing. If she gets fever, redness,swelling, wound looks bad, go2 ER.

Steroid pills,: Antihistamines (benadryl) and perhaps antibiotics are needed if there's suspicion of infection. See a dr there asap before it gets worse. Take care!

hi doctors. in june, 2021, celebrity cruises is starting cruises from st maarten, and royal caribbean cruise lines is starting cruises from nassau, bahamas. how do you decide if this is or is not safe?

Accepted Answer

: Don't do it. For at least the next few months, there is no such thing as cruise ships without big risk of COVID, unless maybe the cruise line requires all passengers to be vaccinated. Even then, it's easy to falsify vaccine proof. It is strongly recommended you not take any cruise until and unless CDC advises it is safe. That day probably is a long way off, maybe a year or more.

Yes with caution: Ocean water contains bacteria and many microorganisms.  There is potential for infection. If the wound is large and open I recommend not to swim.  If it's a small cut just make sure it is cleaned well after swimming and covered with an antibiotic ointment.

Get started: It would be a good idea to get started on the vaccine series as soon as possible.  Although the protection you are afforded after a single dose, you may have some immunity to at least Hepatitis A, and you can complete the series when you return home.

can i keep bahama cruise reserv 1mo post-op after laparoscopic assisted low anterior resection of rectal cancer? surgeon says no, gi/oncologist yes.

Not a good idea: I usually recommend 6 weeks post op for any trips other than emegency.
