i was prescribed erythromycin 500 and metronidazole 500.  i was informed i could take together but my stomach is very sensitive even with food.  could i separate them a couple of hours from eachi?

i undergo excessive diarrhea, i took erythromycin together with metronidazole simultaneously, i feel headache dizziness and so bad, what should i do? was i overdosed myself?

: It is not possible that taking erythromycin and metronidazole simultaneously is what anybody would cause overdose. Both could have side effects; and I hope you did not drink alcohol. It is more important to find the cause of the diarrhea so appropriate management could be instituted. It is also important that you have adequate fluid intake with electrolytes preferred like in soup.

Too many: antibiotics-all3 have the potential of causing gastric irritation, nausea and vomiting. Please call your prescribing physician AsAP. I suggest stopping all medication until you speak with your physician today!~

Topical : Until you can be sen by a dentist, some relief can be achieved by the use of Anbesol or over the counter topical agent such as benzocaine.  The origin of the abcess needs to be determined. If it is coming from a tooth, then get it treated.

Hmmm....: Erythromycin is an antibiotic that has many medical uses. Flagyl is also an antibiotic, but is not used for treatment of an upset stomach that was caused by antibiotics such as erythromycin. One should contact his doctor to ask why the Flagyl was prescribed. Meanwhile, one can consider medications to treat stomach reflux or excess stomach acid... such as calcium carbonate and acid blockers.

why are metronidazole and doxycycline prescribed together?

They work: on different std's and the std's taht one treats (trichomonas, and non-specific vaginosis) the other one doesn't (doxycycline works on most chlamydia and gonorrhea but not the other ones).

Maybe: These 3 antibiotics do not adversely interact with each other. However, one or more of them may interact with meds you regularly take or cause complications in chronic conditions you may have. Unless your doctor specifically prescribed this combination, you should not take extra medicines. And your doctor should be notified of all meds (non-prescription too) you take.

Any antibiotic: Can be a set up for a yeast infection. Neither has a therapeutic effect on the candida and the schedule will not matter.
