i was told i would not need digestive enzymes/bile salts after gallbladder removal...why then do naturopaths promote taking them? what is best?

Training: You do not need them. Naturopaths are trained differently and so are thought the you do, though there is no scientific evidence to back that. The gallbadder is like a reservoir  only. It only is a storage site. The salts , etc, are still produced and released whether there or not.

ERCP: Many laboratory values can be elevated after manipulation of your biliary tract with ERCP and stent placement since it is an invasive procedure. Your laboratory values are all relative and your provider can trend them. The important thing is to have close followup with your gastroenterologist regarding these lab values and/or any new symptoms like abdominal pain or nausea/vomiting after ERCP.

Depends: Some temporary mild increase in liver function blood tests can occur early after gallbladder surgery. If there is worsening liver blood tests, jaundice, vomiting, increasing abdominal pain, recurrent vomiting or other concerns, then call and see your surgeon very soon.

Workup continues: Jaundice at any time is a problem in differential diagnosis. Entities that your physicians are considering include a common duct gallstone, pancreatic cancer, cholangiocarcinoma, damage or occlusion involving the common duct during surgery, hepatitis / cholestasis from a medication or anesthesia, delayed hemolysis after transfusion or from a rx. They need to sort it out. Good luck.

Time and discussion: You had a cholecystectomy.  The SGPT level may vary according to how recent the surgery was performed.  Talk to your surgeon to see if an intrahepatic cholangiogram was performed and if stones were noted.  Your surgeon will want to follow with you as she recovers.

Gall bladder issues : Your condition sounds interesting. More clarification is needed. What do you mean by having a bile leak? Do you have a change in smell and taste all the time?

Doctor can evaluate: With such tummy symptoms, a person can write down everything he eats or drinks, on a daily calendar, and take it to his primary care or G.I. Doctor for evaluation. Include on the diary:  which meds, how much, and taken at what time. Some testing and some diet alterations may be suggested, and then the doctor(s) can follow-up to see if things get better.

Different problems.: Gallbladder disease tends to be distinct from gastritis or gerd with regurgitation. A ppi drug like Prevacid (lansoprazole) should be used short-term only if possible.  I would consider a gerd workup, to include upper endoscopy (egd), and then perhaps other studies to evaluate your symptoms of regurgitation, that may be resolved with medical or surgical therapy.

Good: Most pain should be gone, appetite better.
May still have some different bowel habits.
May exercize, get weight in order.

Long list: There is a long list of a potential complication from gallbladder surgery 
do you mean what would you expect your body will do or complication that could happen during surgery and you might be feeling it now 
after surgery patient will feel tired, drained, fatigue
some might not tolerate specific food 
some will have diarrhea some will have constipation
some will have more pain than others
