i have a hard time taking deep breaths, what could be wrong?

Concerned: I would recommend an evaluation by a physician.  There a several reasons that could be causing you to have this problem. If you are having a difficult time taking a deep breath because of pain, this is called pleuritic chest pain.  If it is because you are unable to catch your breath, that is considered dyspnea. Either way, you need to be evaluated by a phsycian to rule out significant diseases.

Get it checked: Pain in chest on deep breathing needs to be checked as you may have pleurisy/pneumonia or acute bronchitis.It may also be possible that pain is coming from the chest wall.You should consult your doctor to find out what is going on.

Hard to say.: If you reproduce this symptom with this particular movement or maneuver, then you are more than likely creating a mechanical problem with bone, ligament or nerve involvement causing your pain.  See your pcp for an exam if this is more than a nuissance.

Chest pain: Pain that comes on while taking a breath is often pleuritic in nature or something that irritates the lung lining.  This could be a pneumonia, pulmonary embolus or a vial process that irritates the pleura.

Anxiety and self-: consciousness about automatic bodily processes can temporarily interfere w/them.  Please see your doc to rule out medical conditions.  Yawning is similar to deep breathing in that both create a larger intake of oxygen.  A clinical psychologist can help w/stress management.  Peace and good health.

See a doctor: Although could be a simple thing problems as pulmonary hypertension, esophageal diseases &amp; other thoracic &amp; pulmonary problems could be present. See a lung doctor

ER: Acute onset of shortness of breath is no laughing matter. I would suggest you go to the ER for emergent evaluation. More than likely this is something minor however some of the causes of acute shortness of breath can be very serious.

is it possible to lose fat just from ribs? not losng weight or exercising but can feel ribs/ see them if taking deep breath. 16st 7. have big appetite

Not likely: Spot fat loss is not the way it works. You tend to loose fat all over , but a human body tends to have more fat in certain areas more than others. Some of this fat distribution is genetic, thats why people come in different shapes and body builds.
