Likely 2 different: The tailbone pain is something known as coccyxdynia.  It can be from trauma or less commonly an inflammatory condition.  You are on naprosyn (naproxen).  Continue until u see a spine specialist.  You will likely need x-rays ; maybe MRI to eval tailbone pain.  Regarding the constipation, in addition to stool softeners, drink lots of water and make sure you get enough dietary fiber.  Discuss w/ur pcp.

Pt is best: Coccyx injury is common and typically very painful. Best therapy is pt and other non-surgical therapy. Rarely surgery is done to remove the fractured part of the coccyx.

Wish i could....: There is a nobel prize for the doc who figures these out.  Low back pain often responds to continued low level activity , stretching, physical therapy, low dose pain relief  / non steroidals and time.  For the tail bone will need to sit on an inflatable donut or pad to take pressure of the sacrum.

Not sure exactly: what it is without knowing how you hit or any other history, but you may have bruised your coccyx or caused some mal-alignment of the sacrum and coccyx. It should continue to get better. Try avoiding sitting on backside (use donut, sit on side, etc) for the next 2 weeks, ice occasionally, should get better. If not, see a physician to examine.

i have lower back pain on and off around my tail bone. sometimes i can't sleep at night because of it. i am a dental assistant, should i be worried?

Occupational hazard: This is from personal experience. Since you are usually leaning over in only 1 direction all day, your low back muscles on one side of your back are usually tight than on the other side. What happens is your si joints on the low part of the back are uneven. You can have a physical or massage therapist versed in these types of issues help you.

i have rheumatoid arthrits my tail bone is throbbing, shooting pains going down my leg and lower back pain. why would my tail bone throb?

Inflammation: Possible inflammation of the vertebra or sacroiliac joints. Your rheumatologist is best qualified to evaluate and treat you for this. A ruptured disk is another possibility in view of the radiation into the leg.

X-ray shows: Issues with bones. You can still have an issue with a nerve. I would suggest an MRI or EMG/NCV studies.

See your doctor: Have your doctor examine you to find the cause of your pain. It may be a muscle sprain which will typically settle down in 2 weeks. You can also take tylenol (acetaminophen) for pain relief. If the pain persists, then x-rays or a scan may be considered. But your doctor can guide you best.
