what could be causing my lower-back pain to increase more as the weeks go on? (is it healing?)
i suffered a fractured vertebrae about six weeks ago in car accident. the pain seems to have spread over my back and doesn't seem to be going away.)

..orthopedic Consult: If one suffered a fractured vertebrae in a car accident  six weeks ago and is still having progressive back pain, it is best to see a PCP or Orthopedic Consult for proper evaluation and possible additional imaging studies. Age 26 years is a little too young to begin with a life long chronic back pain syndrome if it can be resolved effectively with current  medical knowledge and technology

Frequently yes: There are many ways to fracture the spine.  Most fractures will heal with time.  Often bracing is used to help stabilize the bone to assist healing.  There are certain types of fractures where surgery is recommended, but this determination should probably be made by a spine specialist such as an orthopedic surgeon or neurosurgeon.

Sure: One is a knee problem the other two are unrelated back conditions many seniors have spondylosis before the fall that causes the fracture and are one twisting knee injury away from a torn lateral meniscus some meniscal tears are degenerative and are present without injury no reason you can't have all three at once.

Fracture: Very uncommon at your age but depends on your growth. Even more uncommon are vertebral fractures that occur during pregnancy or shortly after. Regrettably you also need to make sure the technician and the doctor who report the data have been properly trained. Fewer than 25% of techs and even fewer docs have been properly ttrained. Sad but true.

Cant refuse: In the us, you can not be refused emergent medical treatment in an emergency room. That being said, the er doctor might not have thought your condition necessitated an emergent mri.
