i have systemic lupus and ra what is the best pain meds i could ask my doc to prescribe?

Get to the root: The root problem of both diseases is inflammation. Disease-modifying medications (rx) must be considered before all else as inflammation control relieves many symptoms including pain. After that, anti-inflammatory rx and/or analgesic rx can be prescribed but there is no one "best" rx.

Not the same thing: Both are collagen vascular diseases; the juvenile form hasn't had time to be as destructive but it can easily wreak havoc with other systems of the body besides the joints..

Well : Well i guess everybody can feel, bad or good at some point  . Last week an old woman told me she feels like a 21 year old , which is more likely . Old women remember how they felt when they were 21. ( just joking ) . Pains that are present for only one week , do not qualify for the diagnosis of RA , you need joint inflamation , several joints and at least several weeks , about six. The usual pains women that are 21 get are those related to an acute infection that should be self  limited.
Of course there are docens of diseases that should be considered , but i would tell you thaat with the information we have until now , you have to wait and see, if you developed new thing , and if the pains go as they came.

Fibromyalgia : Fibromyalgia is a "problem" that is defined as an amplification of pain , so pain or any stimulus anywhere that involves an area that has that "fibromyalgia", will amplify the stimulus and the sensation will be " enlarged" made " bigger" that will include joint pains , muscle aches or any stimulus.

Genetics & bad luck: Ra is caused by a combination of genetic predisposition & an environmental trigger.  The trigger turns on the immune system and it then turns around and starts to attack the body.  Identical twins have less than a 50% chance of both getting ra.  Many events have been thought to trigger ra. Smoking is at the top of the list, it also often starts after pregnancy or around menarche or menopause.

Yes it can: Ra is now considered one of several major risk for cardiovascular disease/event such as heart attack, thus can result in death. Untreated RA can also affect lungs and kidneys, thus can shorten lifespan. Currently available treatment are getting better and helping people living better and hopefully longer life. Follow doc regularly and treat RA as well as you can. Good luck.
