Go see ur Family Doc: Not to be an alarmist, but painless lumps are worrisome. Best to go see your Family Doc for a complete evaluation. Is lump fixed in place? Matted down, so to speak? Or freely mobile? Any unexplained weight loss? Fevers, sweats &amp; chills? Interesting (foreign) travel? Many different reasons for lump depending upon your answer. So best recommendation is still to see your Family Doc.

Needs exam: It is impossible to determine the cause of a swelling that can not be seen. I would advise that you make an appointment with your son's pediatrician so they can examine the area and give you an actual diagnosis instead of guesses of what it "could be."

Could be trapped air: This may sound crazy but i've seen something like this before.  In some people if there is a small tear in the lining of the airways or throat air can escape and enter into the tissue.  This is known as subcutaneous emphysema.  This is more common after some sort of trauma.  See your doctor and get appropriate studies.

Get checked : For significantly sore throat w swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see physician ; get a strep throat test ; culture. Antibiotics are imperative for strep throat.  Try saltwater gargles. Mix tsp of salt in 8 oz of warm water – gargle w this several times/day. You can gargle w aloe vera juice a couple of times per day. A mix of chamomile tea w honey ; a small amt of lemon juice helps.

noticed little squishy lump on left side of neck a week ago.  now have a lump / swollen? (different from right side) on my left lower ribcage.

Sebaceous cyst: Sebaceous cysts are very common problems.  The occur when skin glands get obstructed and sebum builds up.  They may get infected leading to redness pain and increasing size.  You should see your doctor to have the cyst removed.  Until then warm  compresses and oral analgesics like acetaminophen and ibuprofen can help decrease the pain.

Biopsy: If the nodes size did not become smaller with antibiotic you should have biopsy of node to find the cause then to be treated.

Need re-exam: There are several causes and diagnosis for the "cyst" on the back of your neck. I would advise you to see your primary care physician to get a referral to a surgeon the excise the "cyst" and see what kind of a lesion it is composed of. The swollen lymph node &amp; the "cyst" may be related and could be a more serious problem.

my right back side of neck is kinda sore and swollen, not lump . feels like muscle. i carry my purse on this side. what to do? no other symptoms.

Sounds like a muscle: strain..apply heat 20 min off then 20 min off and carry your purse on the other side
