Cellulitis: You sound like you have an infection from the thorn. This can be very serious and you should see a doctor as soon as possible. You probably will be placed on antibiotics. Thorn  puncture wounds can introduce unusual bacteria into your leg sometime requiring IV antibiotics.

2 separate problems: I can't think of 1 disease that would cause both problems. The swelling sounds more ominous - it can be due to kidney, heart or liver disease and needs investigation.

Edema: You may be having multiple problems here.  Swelling of feet and legs is a very serious sign of possible systemic diseases.  You need to see a general doctor right away for any swelling of the lower legs.  Hypertension, heart failure and many other diseases may be a factor!

See primary doc: Pedal edema can result from ibuprofen and naproxen use. I have mainly seen it with Celebrex, (celecoxib) though. With your history of cancer, it makes sense to rule out a deep venous thrombosis or clot. Please see your physician for a doppler ultrasound if necessary. The fact that both legs are swollen makes that less likely. Still, it is best to make sure the swelling is not due to heart, kidney, or liver dz

Any family history of leg swelling?

Normal can be ugly: You could have kidney or heart problems but at your age I would suspect that you have the sl. swollen feet ofter seen at rest in women.  Some of us have relish colored feet from pooled blood and the veins will swell as the fill from gravity. Calf muscles are the major source of return blood flow in the less , so use them and balance will be restored, Walk!

Edema: Injury to the epidermis and dermis after sun exposure may not produce blisters and may result in dependent edema.  Gravity affects soft tissue swelling and results in swelling of the lower legs, ankles, and feet.
