DERMATITIS: Heat rash are usually in the body, fine, itchy  and flaky. Eczematoid rash are localized in any part of the body, cubital, popliteal, face and characterized by your description. It responds to moisturizer or steroid cream.

Keep the baby cooler: Heat rash usually resolves in a few days unless the baby continues to sweat too much.  So dress the baby in cooler clothes or remove a layer of blankets, etc.  Try not to use any topical creams or ointments that can also hold in heat.  Keep the baby cooler and the rash should go away on its own.

Shingles: Not usually something you get repeatedly- perhaps its an allergy or contact dermatitis - shingles is usually wuite painful- please see your dermatologist

Nothing is needed: If your baby has "heat rash" on the forehead or cheeks (generally called milia) it is best to gently wash your baby's face with soap and water with a wash clothe twice a day for a week  avoid steroid creams!  you may apply a small amount of aquaphor cream to the face once a day.  Avoid scented lotions.  If this does not resolve in two weeks see you pediatrician.

Face rashes: Rashes are very common in infants, who have very sensitive skin.  Using a hypoallergenic washes and moisturizers such as Cetaphil or Aquaphor will keep the skin healthy are more resistant to rashes.  Avoid using baby wipes on the face as well, as most contain alcohol and can be abrasive.

Moisturize, benadryl (diphenhydramine): It is difficult to diagnose a rash without seeing it, but if it itches and is small try some moisturizing cream such as aquaphor or vaseline to keep it from getting too dry. Rashes ? : Rashes are visual, meaning we need to either see them or have you write a description that is adequate to provide a mental picture. A few things: It could be eczema, or the result of a viral infection.  If this is a long-standing problem, it's best to pay a visit to your pediatrician so he/she can examine your son.

Type of bump/none: Heat rash is more a widening of pores with red accents but no raised bumps. Babies often get a transient "baby acne" that is not present at birth (bathed in the waters of the womb) but comes out at a few weeks &amp; lasts a few months. It is thought to result from maternal hormone effect which gradually declines as the baby ages.It will generally disappear without specific treatment.
