Migraine: If you are having new symptoms that differ from your usual headache pattern, go to the er and be checked.  You may be having a stroke-- at the very least, you will need a complete physical exam, labs, and an imaging study to check things out.

Hand and armpit: It is important to determine what the causes are.
Emg testing by the neurologist will help determine the cause as well as imaging studies of the cervical spine and axilla.
Based on this, treatment can be tailored.

Possible/unlikely: If there is a significant amount of swelling around the nerves that pass through to the arm and hand, a rotator cuff tear could cause those symptoms.  It is far more likely that a nerve is being pinched- either in the neck or tight muscles around the neck/shoulder.  A physiatrist can diagnose and treat these conditions.

Pinched nerve: Occurs when too much pressure is applied to a nerve by surrounding tissues. The common symptoms are numbness, sharp, aching or burning pain, which may radiate outward to your ear, eye, pharynx and extremities. Treatment: physical therapy, medications, cognitive behavioral therapy and acupuncture. The treatment is usually effective.

Carpal tunnel syn.: Carpal tunnel syndrome can be caused by swelling as well as overuse (holding your newborn baby).  Initial treatment can be as simple as wearing a wrist splint.  You should be evaluated by a hand surgeon to confirm and start treatment.

i woke up with a numb hand/arm after accidently sleeping on it and now i have pain on my antecubital space & the forearm when straightening my arm.

Normal: That's nerve starvation. It will go away after several hours.  Just stretch and massage the area.  It needs blood flow there again.

Get a medical exam: This is a bit unusual. Numbness in the hand is usually caused by nerve damage in the wrist, elbow or neck, but wouldn't be associated with a lump. A medical exam is needed to sort it out.

i have hand numbness & tingling. it feels all swelled up but it's not and the feeling goes up my arm  it keeps me up at night. i'm 46 with no medicals problems other than a few kidney infections throughout life.

How : How is your neck?  Any history of prior injury to your neck?  Compression of a nerve in your neck (from arthritis in the cervical spine or a disc herniation) can cause your symptoms.  And you don't necessarily have to have neck pain in order for a problem in your neck to cause radiating pain ("radiculopathy").

I'd start with either an orthopedic surgeon or a neurologist who can perform some simple nerve tests.   An MRI of your neck would disclose any narrowing between the vertebrae.  Also, try using a thinner pillow when you sleep.

Complex problem: Spinal stenosis/cerv'l disc degen. freq.cause neck pain, but not always.Same w/hand numbness:could be carpal tunnel or from neck, both or neither.PT is often too generic to help.Shoulder surg could play a part in causing hand/arm nerve problems.Strongly rec. osteopathic eval as specific diagnosis via hands-on exam &amp; gentle manip. may help.Consider neuroprolotherapy for CTS or brachial neuropathies
