was allergic to effexor xr but helped the most! today tried pristiq (desvenlafaxine) and itching! next i'm trying cymbalta but don't want weight gain! :((((?

Acctualy…    : Cymbalta (duloxetine) has a side effects: loss of appetite, nausea, dry mouth, constipation,  tiredness, drowsiness. Constipation is the most common, but adding magnesium to the mix is helpful.
The  allergic reaction to this drug is also rare.
I hope it will be the right medication for you.

i'm very interested to know if panic and anxiety is best treated with snris if ssris fail. i was on cymbalta but when i dropped the dose i had a major relapse. i'm now on effexor xr 225mg i feel on edge and have become very caffeine sensitive help!

PANIC: It is important to find the correct combination of medications with your Psychiatrist. Medications alone are not sufficient since they do not teach you coping mechanisms. Psychotherapy with a Clinical Psychologist can help you find ways to handle stress  that will help your medications to work better. It is appropriate to obtain a second opinion from a Psychiatrist if you have concerns about meds.

Usually not.: Then vast majority of my patients who have switched from Effexor xr to venlafaxine er have done so without difficulty. That said, generics can vary in the inactive ingredients and some may perceive a difference.

on effexor 225mg, history anxiety/panic. was on cymbalta 60mg for years had a relapse was put on effexor. anxiety and frequent ectopics (pvcs) causing more anxiety.is the effexor causing pvcs or anxiety? should i consider switching back to cymbalta?

PVC's: I would expect anxiety would be more likely to cause PVC's, but if you wish to try going back to cymbalta, you would have to be supervised and directed by your prescribing physician or psychiatrist in making the switch. Perhaps the PVC's are causing or aggravating your anxiety in which case a cardiology consultation is advisable.

Maybe: Pristiq is a cogener of effexor...Pristiq is the right rotatory molecule of the racemic mixture known as effexor...Basically, the same medication...Pristiq is more potent..Venlafaxine versus desvenlafaxine...Don't confuse potency with efficacy, however...

What: What are the side effects? Best to discuss this with your physician. Effexor (venlafaxine) can cause weird side effects and is especially prone to discontinuation syndrome. Dont stop it abruptly.

: Yes, but since both medications cross the blood-brain barrier they can cause lethargy and cognitive effects which can be enhanced by both meds being in the system together.  There is a theoretical possibility of a condition called serotonin syndrome but this is extremely unlikely.  Closely monitor for any side effects and let your physician know of any concerns that arise.

one 5 mg tablet of valium every 2 to 3 days affects my anxiety more than the 112.5 mg of effexor-xr i take daily. should i increase the effexor (venlafaxine) dose?

Work w/your doctor: You really need to work with your doctor on any medication changes, rather than asking online physicians who don't know you.  Effexor (venlafaxine) can be very helpful in anxiety.

hi i take effexor xr 150 mg. ive been taking it for 2 years and havent changed dosage. i took it on time today but im still having withdrawal symptoms. why is that?

: It would be helpful here to know what the symptoms that you are having really are. Obviously, if you are still taking the medicine, the symptoms are not actually due to withdrawal. If the symptoms are severe or persistent, see The Doctor Who prescribed the medication. Good luck.
