is it ok if i go swimming tomorrow with a cough and runny nose? (both come and go) i also have been taking cough syrup morning and night and tylenol sinus and flu in the mornings and using a nasal reliever for my nose and they help really well?

: Are your symptoms from common cold, flu, covid, or something much more serious? You're treating symptoms, not the cause. See your GP or Urgent Care for diagnosis/treatment. And stay out of crowded places until you are symptom free so as to not infect someone else.

Cold symptoms: I think it is alright to resume normal activities when your toddler is back to acting normally.  A little residual cough in that setting is not a big deal.

my 6 year old grandson has a dry cough no other symptoms. going on holiday tomorrow.is it ok o go swimming?

Could you stop him?: With no symptoms other then a bit of a dry cough, there is no reason to not go swimming.  If this is a chronic issue, I would suggest evaluation to find the underlying cause (allergies? cough variant asthma? etc).  Restricting activity would be for other symptoms as well - fevers, body aches, shortness of breath, breathing fast - then he needs to be seen.  Otherwise, watch him and play :)

is it bad if after cardio for a couple hours i feel some pain when taking deep breaths and sometimes cough when taking deep breaths for example after a soccer tournament or like today after swimming for a couple hours?

: Those do not sound normal so if symptoms persist for another week, you need a physical exam and a chest X-ray. Good luck.

Could be but: Most of these resolve with some patience and time. If you have fever. Shortness or breath, wheezing or it does not resolve in two weeks then proceed to see your internist. In the meantime use an over the counter cough syrup.  Good luck.

Spasm: Cold water can cause a spasm in the wind pipe that will create a cough avoid cold water if it get worst see your doctor for proper evaluation bilsalamah inshallah

Not recommend: Most of the time when children are sick due to virus, but you do not want to give to  other children in the pool. Furthermore their immnune system is not strong while they are sick, they can get other infection that are consider opportunistic like fungus.

Wait until better: Would be best to wait until feeling better.
That way you would not be putting other swimmers at risk from your coughing.
Also this will give your body some time to "heal" naturally.

is it normal to have lung irritation after swimming? why do my lungs feel irritated after i go swimming? inhaling deeply after i swim causes me cough. it goes away after a day or so. this happens if i swim in a pool or at the lake.

You : You may have a condition called hypersensitivity pneumonitis, which is a form of allergy to inhaled (usually organic) compounds in the environment. There are literally hundreds of compounds that can result in an allergic response within the lungs and cause symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath and fevers. A relatively common allergen is actually a type of mycobacteria that has a propensity to reside in hot tubs, pools and water pipes. Although you would not expect your symptoms to occur when you swim at the lake compared to at the pool if it is due to an allergen, there are other explanations that could result in this observation. For example, it may be that you are actually allergic to the mycobacteria that reside in your showerhead of the shower you take after you swim at either the pool or lake.

I recommend that you see a pulmonary or allergy specialist to make sure you do not have hypersensitivity pneumonitis. It is important to do this because left untreated, chronic hypersensitivity pneumonitis can lead to irreversible lung scarring and shortness of breath.

after swimming in the public swimming pool i have a strange feeing in my nose, like if i am getting ill with flu. i have no cough or fever, no pains, just feels as if my nose deep inside is filled with pus. but nothing comes out. it stays for 3-4 day?

: Use saline nasal drops for a few days. If still the same feeling pl see an ENT doc. I dont think you have anything filled with pus.
