my ankle has been swollen on both side of foot for 2 months? take ibuprofen/rest to help with swelling, but keeps swelling up. what can/should i do?

Time to Think.: Ibuprofen is often used to minimize and often mask the symptoms of inflammation. This can give the false security that the issue has been handled correctly. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. The anti-inflammatory effects of ibuprofen can allow the condition to escalate, leaving you without the appropriate protective symptoms. You need to be evaluated by a physician to isolate the cause.

Foot pain: This type of foot pain may be a stress fracture.  You should be check by your physician and an xray taken.  Meanwhile i would stop running, but swimming would be ok.

Hard to say: There are many causes of pain in the foot without any apparent trauma.  Without knowing more about your boy's health history and getting a look at his tootsie, i'd be misleading you with any specific answers.

It's always safest and best to bring it in to a podiatrist, perhaps get an x-ray, and know for certain.  Hope your boy feels better and good luck!
