i have swelling/edema of both ankles for a few days. i'm 25, bmi = 24 (not overweight), no serious medical problems. what could be causing this?

Ankle swelling at 25: See your doctor to check you out for heart, liver, kidney, and protein disorders.  Are your socks / shoes too tight?

Elevate: Elevate and compression to treat the swelling, but more importantly find the cause and treat that if possible.

Local or general: Pedal edema is how doctors refer to swollen feet. Pregnant women often get pedal edema as their pregnancy progresses heart disease circulation problems etc.
Ankle get swelling because you have sprain ankle.

If one leg or both: If one likly recurrent infection. If both. Should see your physician for complete medical workup.

ive been struggling with fluid and swelling around my knees - mostly in my left knee. i bought a brace and today i noticed my ankles are super swollen. i did the worse thing you can do and googled it - edema came up. at what point should i worry?

Many possibilities: COuld be venous insufficienct which is a back up in the veins that causes pooling of blood in leg

Get active!: Your MRI from 4 months ago identified potential irriation and injury to the tendon.  Now,  4 months later,  it sounds as if the pain is improving, with less swelling.  This is the typical pattern of resolution of soft tissue sprains.  You might consider gentle therapy so you can slowly return back to you pre-injury state.  You may also consider using an ankle support brace with vigorous activity.

is the swelling in ankles chf very swollen? like edema? i have minimal swelling, i can still see my ankle bones, veins, but they are swollen. just wondering how swollen they get.

Edema in CHF OK.: Press into the swollen area with your finger to see if the indentation remains.  Increase hydration, feet elevation at night and increase walking.  Some diuretics help.  Your PCP will help monitor you progress.

I assume a dr: Ordered an MRI which is how you know you have sub articular marrow edema....so what did this dr suggest?

38 weeks pregnant w r mild pitting edema to dorsum and lateral ankle, no swelling above the ankle. doppler was negative for dvt, i want a repeat doppler?

No need. : If you had a negative doppler for a DVT a repeat will not show any thing new. At your stage of pregnancy it is not uncommon to have swollen ankles. Sometimes it can be more one leg than the other, but usually symmetrical. If you develop pain in your calf in that leg you will need to get it checked out quickly as that can be a symptom for a possible DVT.
