Foreign body: In general when swallowing a foreign body such as a pen lid you can expect to pass the foreign object in your stool in 5-7 days. Check your stools daily Sometimes eating bread or food helps to pass the foreign body more rapidly

i just swallowed a small peice of plastic that was on top of a pen lid, was about an inch long, should i be worried?

Swallowed  plastic: Likely will come out in stool, but to be certain f/u w/ urgent. care, ER. Go immediately if pain. Plastic  will be noted on X-ray so the can follow  where it is. The article below discusses the issue (in children because they swallow  objects). Of note when evaluating  constipation there is a medical  study that uses PVC markers. Do not worry.

i believe i have swallow peices of an aluminum can lid while opening it some mustve fallen in and i didnt notice until i was almost finished.

No worries: Everybody accidentally swallows tiny pieces of non-edible materials at one time or another. The pieces just get pooped out the other end. The worse thing that might happen is teeth damage due to chomping down on a hard, non-edible piece such as a tiny pebble, metal fragment, sand, etc...  Otherwise, no worries.

i, unintentionally, swallowed a bit of a plastic coffee lid . i heard from someone plastic can give you cancer. can i get cancer from eating plastic?

Plastic "cancer": I think it highly unlikely that this would happen.
A "bit of plastic" would go straight down your throat without concern.

my 10 mos old swallowed a triangular piece of a plastic fountain drink lid about 1/3 of an inch. no swallowing/ breathing issues. will it cause probs?

Possibly: If he truly swallowed it, it will probably be okay. It's pretty flexible and it should come out with his poo. However, notify his doctor in the morning. Also, watch for breathing problems or wheezing, as this could be signs that he inhaled it instead of swallowing it. And try not to feel too guilty, most moms have been through something like this (including me).

See your eye doctor: ASAP, meaning oculoplastics surgeon! Eye swelling after being hit can indicate a possible orbital floor fracture &amp; especially if you are seeing a deep scratch. What's behind the scratch is important &amp;  u may need orbital xrays or CT scan done to determine the extent of soft tissue/bone injury. If u can't look up, there could be entrapment of fat or eye muscle. May need oral steroids. Don't wait!

when handled our outside trashcan a drop of water(maybe rain) from the lid hit my cheek. i washed my face w/soap, but rinsing it i probably swallowed some water.could possible hep a from that drop have gone into my mouth, or am i truly over reacting?

You're ok: Most foreign body ingestions can be managed conservatively. If you are not sure about having ingested a foreign body, then it could not have been very large. In this case, if it has entered your stomach, it will likely pass in less than four days, probably sooner. If you develop any gastrointestinal symptoms, you can see your doctor. He might order an abdominal x-ray and manage you expectantly.

i think i swallowed metal shavings that was in my canned corn.. what signs should i look out for if i did??

Likely nothing...: Tiny pieces of iron/metal from the can small enough that you did not feel from chewing or swallowing will not likely to cause you any symptoms at all. Iron supplements in your foods such as cereal are actually tiny particles of metal/iron ( fine saw dust) mixed in cereals. The can is likely made of aluminum and so consider you just had some aluminum supplement. Stay well! Good luck!!!

If it is small,: round and easy to pass - then would anticipate it will come out with your stool. If it is particularly large or shaped in a manner that might make it difficult to travel through the GI tract - then would consult with medical.
