Ask doc for med: This is a very common problem with high dose steroids. It is temporary, but with your history of SVT you need to ask your doctor to prescribe a short term medication to solve the problem-several exist .

Not contraindicated: There's no specific contraindication, but of course there are risks with any medication use. I would be more concerned about use of sympathomimetics (caffeine, decongestants or nebulizer use) potentially triggering episodes.

Yes: It should not be any specific issue with take branched chain amino acid if you have SVT.  Take some Mag glycinate with it.  That would help your SVT.

No: Extremely unlikely. Because SVT causes the heart to beat very fast, patients with underlying heart problems can get into trouble but this is a rare scenario.

: 16 beats of SVT would be considered a short run. SVT isn't usually life threatening. If you have repeated bursts or frequent symptomatic PAC's your cardiologist may consider treating you with beta blockers. Thyroid OK? EKG and echocardiogram normal?  Take any stimulants?  Avoid alcohol and excess caffeine. Avoid stress and get good sleep.

Possible: If you and your son have found an association it might be so although generally unlikely. Only one way to find out.  Empiric trial of ppi or antigerd med.

does atenolol cause svt?

Accepted Answer

Rarely: Generally, Atenolol suppresses SVT.  In rare cases, it can affect your heart to make some types of SVT worse.  Also, it can rarely speed up the heart rate, by slowing down certain parts of the hearts electrical system more than others.  Lastly, withdrawal from atenolol can make SVT worse, so don't stop the medication too abruptly.  See a heart rhythm specialist for treatment options and evaluation
