No: Duplex ultrasound gives good current data.
None is predictive of future risk.
Assessment of coagulopathy is also relevant.

Yes, usually: In experienced hands it is a very safe and successful procedure.  Volume equates to better outcomes for most procedures, meaning you want someone who has done thousands of procedures and not just a few and want it to be done at a high volume center.

Not life threatening: But, depends on type of svt.  Generally svt always occurs the same way - same symptoms every episode-  since the short circuit is a fixed path, but this is not always true.

Check w your doctor: If you're having chest pain, you should call your cardiologist at once. It may be nothing, but he/she would want to know. If you feel ill, short of breath, sweaty, go to the ER at once.  Call 911 if necessary. Chest pain should never be taken lightly.

are there restrictions after ablation for svt?  can i take my plane flight in 6 weeks?

You can fly: In general, there are few restrictions after an uncomplicated svt ablation.  Your physician may ask you to avoid putting excess strain on the groin(s) for a few days to ensure the blood vessels used for catheter access heal adequately.  You should be back to a normal routine far earlier than 6 weeks.

Follow the dr's rule: I would consider self sex the same as regular sex, especially in this situation. The intensity of the strain on your heart could easily be identical.

how long does it take the heart to heal after a catheter ablation for svt?

Depends: This is usually not an issue of healing but of getting the right destruction of the right area of the heart.  Healing will most likely be completed in a matter of a week but it is not a healing issue.  Discuss with your cardiologist/electophysiologist and have a complete understanding prior to the procedure unless done emergently.  Monitoring may be in order for a while after the procedure.

scheduled  for an ablation to fix what they " think" is svt. it's never been recorded as that before but i get a racing heart at times. yes or no?

SVT?: Ask your doctor if they monitored you will enough at this point with haltors or events recorder to confirm one type versesw another?
