3 days late and no menstral cycle? not sexually active, had previous knee surgery given tramadol for pain relief. is this normal to not have a period?

Stress: Any large stress on your body can cause hormone fluctuation.  Surgery is definitely a large stress and many different hormones get released.  If you have not been sexually active, just give it time.  Should you have other problems, fever, pain, discharge, etc. Then i would suggest seeing your doctor.

Menstrual cycles: Many women experience abnormal periods. Usually medicine or hormone treatment can correct the problem. Sometimes there may be a surgical treatment that can be considered. It depends on the cause of the problem. See a gyn specialist.

Definitely: Any major stress can effect the menstrual cycle. Please discuss this with your gyn and rule out pregnancy if that is a fear.

for two yrs since i had my tl surgery, i would have really sharp, burning pain when about ovulating and menstrual is it  from the tl surgery or no?

No: If you would not have had the tl, you would have had these pains as well. This is just your normal cycle. I have many women who get back on the pill after tl, not for contraception, but for menstrual and pain management.

i do surgery for polyps removal, will it reduce my severe menstrual pain? if i leave it, will the polyps go away on their own? any future risks invol

Uterine Polyps: These questions are best answered by your surgeon who will do your procedure particularly the future risks.  The polyps will not go away on their own and this should decrease your painful periods.

Yes: Any major surgery alters our bodies stress hormones, such as cortisol and adrenaline. This can alter menses and most typically, the cycle after the surgery will occur  off- cycle, and may be heavier or lighter than usual.

is it ok to be on my menstrual cycle during a 6hr kidney surgery if i am a heavy bleeder?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Although your periods may be heavy, the overall amount of blood loss due to this is minimal.  You should be fine to proceed with your kidney surgery.  Your doctor most likely checked for anemia prior to the surgery to be sure anyway.

Conception: It's preferable to wait for 3 normal cycles before you try again, during theses 3 months I recommend  timing method with condoms. Make sure you continue taking your PNV/DHA daily.  Always make your doctor aware.

i'm having surgery in a week and a half. told not to take ibruprofin, aleve or asprin, week before. what can i take instead of menstrual cramps?

Tylenol: acetaminophen is the only over the counter analgesic that would not interfere with platelet function preoperatively.
