Different treatments: Blackheads do not need cosmetic surgery. They can be treated easily with topical medicines. Scarring may require surgery with a scalpel, laser, steroid injections or other method. Depends on the scar. However, scars are basically permanent marks but their severity can be reduced.

Not mechanically: Any mechanical removal of blackheads has probability of causing tissue damage which may lead to scarring. You will need combination of oral and topical medicines to reduce the bacteria causing acne and exfoliate the skin. A prime consult will help us determine the correct combination for you!

Neither: Acne and blackheads are usually best treated by topical medications or chemical peels.  Blackheads can be extracted in a controlled environment while getting a peel or microdermabrasion.

Keep skin clean: Avoid squeezing , wash with warm water use mild soap , I prefer glycerin soaps or none a cream for daily use

Fingernails at base: Just push at the base with a fingernail on each side and push them together until it comes out. Do not push hard enough to break the skin, it isn't necessary.

Meds: Many patients do well with over the counter benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid preparations. Some patients require topical or oral antibiotics or retinoids as well. If the over the counter meds alone don't control your acne after a month of daily use, see a doctor for additional treatment options. It is important to be persistent, and some patients 'get worse before they get better'.

Dermatologist eval: Wash face w gentle cleanser 2x/day.  Use oil free products on face. Avoid heavy foundations. Don't squeeze pimples (including blackheads).  Avoid touching face (i.e., cradling chin in hands). Remove makeup before bed. Shower after stenous exercise.  Consider otc products (w salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide). If &gt; than mild acne see dermatologist.
