Knee effusion: It means you have an abnormal amount of fluid in your knee joint.  This is never normal and can come from a variety of problems but is usually from an injury to the ligaments of the knee.  You need to ask the doctor who ordered this imaging study for more information about the cause of this problem and recommended therapy.

Arthroscopy : You did not put your age, but if you are reasonably young and healthy, arthroscopic surgery for your meniscal tear would typically be recommended to avoid further damage.  I would discuss with an orthopedic surgeon.

Pain: The effusion is secondary to the arthritic changes. Genus valgus  means you are knocked kneed. You may find physical therapy some benefit to improve valgus stress. With the arthritic changes though it would be worthwhile to see and ortho.

Surgery: It is a rare condition in which a fatty tumor arises within a joint with the knee being most commonly affected. The only effective treatment is surgical removal of the tumor. It is a benign tumor, so the surgery is done for relief of symptoms and is usually quite effective.

: Os Acromiale is essentially an unfused area of calcification in the shoulder joint. This condition is commonly associated with impingement of the shoulder muscles and rotator cuff tendonitis (inflammation of one of the rotator cuff muscles). The effusion is swelling within the joint space. The bursa is a pad that protects the muscle from rubbing on the bone. Hope this helps.

Injury vs over use: I'm assuming he is under a dr's care given the diagnosis. 4 months is protracted, if he is following his doc's care plan and not improving , a second option is indicated.

The definitions: Supra=means above, so suprapatellar means above the patella. Synovitis=inflammation of the synovium, the tissue lining of the joint capsule (the fibrous, tough tissue surrounding your joint--see picture). So, you have sme fluid/swelling above the patella and inflammation along the edges of your joint. These terms =big bucks? :-))  hope that makes sense. Good luck.
