could you please describe the typical meds that a cancer patient may be discharged with for supportive care therapy?

Combination drugs: Chemo given as neoadjuvant to shrink tumor in preparation for surgery or as adjuvant after having surgery and or radiation.  They are given in combination such as CMF (Cytoxan, MTX, 5FU) or as FOLFOX in post surgery  of  colon cancer, or FOLFIERI in an attempt to control metastastic pancreatic cancer or now as Gemcitabine + Abranxane in metastsatic or post surgical management of pancreatic CA.

: There are knee support braces that can be bought at a pharmacy. Home exercises can be done and certain medications can be prescribed by your doctor.

radiologist said lytic lesions would be seen better on mri on report. different radiologist read mri no contrast and didnt see anything. said need mri contrast? thoughts? wouldnt they see something if really there? im scared?

i have excessive mucus i feel like i always need to clean my airways by coughing or anything lately i am feeling like the mucus is so much in my stomach i feel it bad i cant sleep at night it makes me feel so scared?

Excess mucus: Excessive mucus and feeling like you always need to cough or clean your airways is usually a sign of mucus production in your sinuses that keeps draining down and gives you the symptoms you are experiencing. Typically it is caused by allergies, using antihistamines or otc nose sprays can help. Also can do a humidifier at night. Please get it examined if it persists.

on n off (when on alinia or flagyl) bloody diarrhea for 3 mons. started when i was taking augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) for tooth infection. tested for c.diff and other things. all negative. what next? lost 20 pou.scared

See: See Dentist to assure Dental infection completely cured.  Antibiotic will only temporarily prevent spread of infection.  Infected tooth material has to be removed.  See Internist/gastroenterologist for GI problems.  Please call for appointments now.

Actually they can: Vary ; some are not that supportive.

Accepted Answer

Yes: A supportive bra won't hurt and could definitely help.  Other important things to try are pregnancy yoga, wearing flat comfortable shoes, and sleeping with a pillow between your legs.

See below: Nike, new balance, brooks all have good support.  It may be that you need orthotics to provide better support.

how long do i have to wear the supportive strap after hydrocele surgery?

Accepted Answer

Longer the better: Rest, ice, elevation when lying down and scrotal support is important to keep the scrotum from getting swollen.  2 weeks at a minimum, but 4 weeks would be even better.  If the scrotum gets swollen it can take a long time for the hydrocele to feel better (like months) so pay your dues early.

what is someone with depression supposed to do when family isn't supportive and makes it worse, is it best to have no contact, ?

A Tough Situation: Suffering from depression is difficult enough, then your family is unsupportive. It's like kicking you when you are down.  Unfortunately this scenario is not that uncommon. Usually ignorance or poor communication is the cause. Having a therapist could be helpful.  He or she can help you cope with your families attitude and might even facilitate better communication between you and your family.
