Depends : Have your blood count checked to see if you are anemic.  Most vegetarians can get adequate amounts of iron through their diet provided they eat a healthy and varied diet.

Depends: It is best to have your CBC and iron checked. Green leafy vegetables are a good source of iron. There are what we call essential Amino Acids and essential minerals that have to come from certain sources. Talk to your doctor or a nutritionist about them.

i am a vegetarian and i don't drink milk or have dairy products, so should i take a b12 supplement?

!0mcg or more!: I take sublingual B12 @ 2500mcg/day.  That is only 2.5mg/day.  You need at least 10 mcg per day, but i recommend that my vegetarian friends take one b-50/day, which contains 50mcg.

Vegetarian Omega 3: There are vegetarian Omega 3 capsules available.  Omega 3 is good for all of us.  More likely, you can become low on B 12.  For that consider using SUBLINGUAL B 12 tablets.  Check w/your doc or a nutritionist.  Peace and good health.

Yes: You may not be getting proper nutrition, minerals and vitamins. Talk with a nutritionist to see what you might be lacking.

i have iron level of 17 ug/dl and iron binding saturation of 4%. is it too low to go for iron infusion? can i take oral iron supplements which would increase these numbers (slowly)? i am an active person with healthy diet (mostly vegetarian)?

: You have significant iron deficiency by those numbers. IV iron is NOT absolutely indicated unless you could not tolerate oral iron or ongoing blood loss is still present and you need a quick way to replete your iron storage with on going iron loss in case of moderate &amp; severe anemia. There are plenty of means for repleting iron orally by meds and high iron contained foods so IV iron is unnecessary

See Dr., then eat...: If one is truly underweight (based on height, family background, and body type), a Dr. can evaluate for a hormonal, digestive, or other disorder. If no medical cause is found, then one can add weight by eating more calories of nutritious foods, while also doing weight-training to increase muscle. Proteins and better fats: olive oil, peanuts, almonds, cashews, tofu, whole grain pasta, beans, etc...

Lactose vs Milk: Some individuals have a Lactose intolerance in which there is lactose free milk and supplements and then others have a true mild allergy.Therefor Milk Allergy is not Lactose intolerance so depends on which you are or what you can supplement.
