Difficult: In this case the cancer and ongoing chemotherapy makes it difficult to maintain the red blood cell count. A nutritious diet containing red meats, cooked green vegetables and take multivitamins if ok with your doctors. Some patients may benefit from oral iron tabs if their levels are low. Red blood cell transfusions are used for severe anemia and growth factors (erythropoetin) are not used.

Need more info: What type of pills? Unless you have bad reaction to the pills, you should continue taking those.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

: Usually neither. WBC and RBC counts are not useful either to diagnose syphilis or to rule it out. Only syphilis blood tests themselves can tell whether or not someone is infected.

Having said that, both of the results are abnormal and there is a need for determining the cause. It would be prudent to consult your doctor for it.

Low blood count: what is your Hemoglobin? You should have at least 4.5 million cell/ml of blood, so 135 million cell/ml is too low. provide us with the whole CBC count.

i live in denver. i have a very slightly elevated red blood cell count, but normal blood oxygen levels 96%-99%. what can cause this? i have a 6.4 reading on red blood cell count. all other blood metrics are normal.

Those "extra": Red Blood cells are most likely what is keeping your O-2 SATS normal...."secondary" POLYCYTHEMIA (increased RBC counts) is a "coping" mechanism our bodies make when we live at high altitudes!
