Hydrate well w water: Antihistamines can be used for itching. Moisturize skin. Aloe vera straight from the plant helps w healing.

Probable burn: It sounds as though the skin absorbed too much thermal energy and you have a mild burn.  This may take several weeks to heal.  Stay away from any further use of the ir device for now.  If you do not notice improvement, you should be seen by a dermatologist.

Shingles?: It can begin in this fashion.  Go and see a doctor and have this looked at.  If treated early and appropriately it can save you a great deal of pain and future misery.  Good luck and get better soon.

See doctor: Heart disease needs to be ruled out. See your doctor or go to the casualty department of your hospital. Hat attack can present with atypical symptoms.

Photosensitivity?: If the rash is present only on sun exposed skin, and not typical sunburn, it might be a photosensitivity reaction, if you're taking any medications. A common cause is a tetracycline antibiotic, such as doxycycline, but several other drugs can do it as well. If you're taking any new drug, contact the doctor or clinic who prescribed it. Otherwise see your doctor soon for diagnosis and advice.

Complication strep: The  complication she is describing, feeling like the skin is sunburned, is a complication of the strep infection. It is caused by the release of certain toxins the bacteria make that causes irritation, rash or peeling of the skin.  It sometimes gets worse as you start on antibiotics because the bacteria release it when you kill them.  It is not a reaction to the antibiotic. Keep plugging through!

the back of my neck suddenly just started feeling hot, like a sunburn would feel or as if someone had a hot washcloth on it. no pain but it does feel a little swollen? what could this be? it came on so suddenly and seems to be spreading a little?

: It could be the initial symptom of shingles (herpes zoster outbreak) if it only involves one side of the neck. The diagnosis can be confirmed when vesicular rashes appear on that area then you should see your doctor or visit urgent care for the treatment.
