Unlikely: You need a full exam and eval for cause of constipation and stomach pains. Constipation is a very uncommon side effect of Prozac (fluoxetine) and Valium. Follow up with recommendations of ER doc and keep your pcp informed, if not see him/her as well. I hope this helps and you feel better.

Did you have an: endoscopy to see if there is a digestive system pathology? After that if it is negative see an orthopedic surgeon, again turns out no pathology found next step to see a physical therapist.

SEVERE PMS SYMPTOMS?: THis is very unusual. She needs a second opinion, full exam, pelvic exam and labs. She needs to be screened for GI cause of vomiting. Rarely endometriosis can seed and attache along the GI tract. This could potentially be a cause for severe pain and vomiting during period. Seek a second opinion and get copies of all prior records.

Menstrual cramps: Menstrual cramps are caused by the prostaglandins which are released by the breakdown of the uterine lining. NSAIDs are also known as anti-prostaglandins and thus naproxen and ibuprofen can help. The other way of helping is the use of birth control pills and progestin containing contraceptives which decrease the amount of uterine lining and thus decrease the amount of prostaglandin.

Back pain: Spasm in a strained lower back could cause abdominal pain because of tightness &amp; cramps in muscles. However, you should not have internal abdomen problems, only the belly wall muscles and tendons. Treatment would be NSAIDS, Tylenol, (acetaminophen) bengay, moist heat alt cool packs, massage, stretches, taichi, etc...

More info: . When do you get pain? What type? How long does it last? Anything make it better? Anything make it worse? Is it related to eating? Have you had any surgery ? How long has it been there? Accompanying alarm signs: bleeding, weight loss, refractory vomiting.

Doctor can evaluate: Many things are in the upper abdomen:  stomach, pancreas, liver, small intestine, gall bladder, large intestine, abdominal muscles, etc...  An exam by a primary care doctor can help figure things out. Pain in the right upper abdomen, especially with symptoms that occur after eating, can be due to gallstones or other gall bladder disease. The doctor can evaluate, and may order tests if needed.
