You : You may have a retear or other problem to the knee. Since you are able to reproduce pain with the same motion the problem is likely mechanical in nature. Go see your ortho and have an MRI done.

Could be soft tissue: the knee pain with sudden onset can be little cartilage pieces that break loose.. however if the pain is outside the joint, tendon strain, knee cap subluxation can also cause sudden pain. Ice, nsaids such as motrin. With any persistent swelling, see MD for arthrocentesis and perhaps a cortisone shot

Check out your feet: The foundation for good Biomechanics is the foot. See a Podiatrist for a good pair of functional orthotics if you are pronating. Don't trust the shoe salesman or the trainer or the guys in the gym for a problem that might be with you all of your life.

Depends: If you just twisted your knee during tennis and cannot continue then i would ice the knee, wrap it and elevate it.  If the pain passes quickly and you can run, plant and pivot to hit balls then yes by all means stretch a little first. Do not continue if there is any lingering pain because you might cause further injury. Ice and elevate for any swelling, should resolve my morning. See dr if persist.

Yes: if u hyperextended you knee before and had symptoms ( pain , seelling, 'looseness feeling') than the chances are definitely higher of it happening again; esp. if u are 'loose jointed' to begin with and then tore your ACL... May need eval.: It's hard to say what's going on without more information.  How long has the pain been present?  Is there any visible swelling, warmth, or redness?  Is there locking or giving way?  Are there other symptoms such as rash, fever, diarrhea, etc?  Are any other joints involved?  If the problem is new and the answer to the other questions is no, I would try a little rest and simple pain medicine.

Get it checked: Severe knee pain with motion in a 39 yo is often a sign of a structural problem within the knee.  Often a torn and displaced meniscus fragment will cause pain with simple range of motion.  An orthopedist will likely order XRs and an MRI to definitively diagnose the problem.  Seek treatment soon as a displaced (bucketed) meniscus should be treated urgently.

19mo old complains of daytime knee pain. mostly in the tub or in high chair. sudden and severe. no known injury. other than growth what could this be?

Uncertain see peds: You need to see your  pediatrician to see if your child needs  a rheumatology or orthopedic evaluation. Since she is otherwise active  and has  no other limitations  I suspect it is physiologic and no inflammatory joint disease. Even though the pain is in the knee sometimes hip problems can radiate to the knee.
