is it normal for someone to notice more freckles and moles on the body during the summertime? i have been seeing a lot of sunlight, and am concerned?

: If it is the case in your family must be. Identical twins often have identical moles birth marks. So likely genetic. If you have twins in your family take skin pictures and see.

Hardness: The main thing to be concerned about is change in shape, Hardness and any bleeding . A biopsy mat bee needed to rule out malignancy.

Genetics: Usually this is an inherited trait and is a benign condition but you should be evaluated by a physician. There are a few conditions such as dysplastic nevi syndrome (that's the old name) now called the Familial Atypical Multiple Mole and Melanoma (FAMMM) that may be associated with a higher risk of melanoma. This may require biopsy of unusual appearing moles.

Sun Exposure: In genetically predisposed individuals, sun exposure will increase the number and size of moles.  Air pollution can cause other problems including exacerbation of asthma.

Nice picture: Yes, moles can appear spontaneously or can be caused by exposure to sunlight. If they are painful, look unusual or change color, shape, or size you will want to get them examined by your doctor or see a dermatologist who will biopsy them.

Moles on face: You can have your moles evaluated especially if you have noticed  recent growth, irregularity or bleeding.

Check up: You should have a check up with your dermatologist to make sure there is nothing else wrong.

Not necessarily.: Increasing moles is not so much a problem.  If any of the moles are peculiar to you, have irregular borders, bleed, are black, have any particular color with changes or if you are generally concerned, by all means see your pcp and or dermatologist and get checked out.  By the way, always use sunscreen on exposed areas, daily, with SPF 15 or more.  Stay out of the sun &  take care of largest organ.
