Good history : Ask your son many questions about what might have happened- any possible traumatic injury that could cause.  If there is none &amp; nothing else occurs you can probably wait &amp; see, but if any other unusual bruising occurs I recommend Dr evaluation &amp; some basic blood tests to check for unusual causes of East bruising

Dog bite: Although it sounds like the dog didn't intentionally bite you, did the dog's teeth puncture the skin? Are the little red dots in the pattern of the dog's teeth? I suggest you consult a clinician and get examined. It has been a week since the incident so the likelihood of a serious infection is lower, but the only way to tell what the red dots are is to look at them. Have a doc examine you.

Ice for swelling: Applying ice topically is helpful to bring down swelling from trauma.  It is best to use a barrier between your skin and the ice, like a paper towel or cloth, and leave ice on for no more than 15-20 minutes at a time.

Lip Licking: Lip licking is a common habit 3 year olds can get into which causes a red, chapped rash localized to the perioral region. Treat with Aquaphor or Vaseline. Kids usually grow out of this habit after a while. Try redirecting her if it is a common occurrence.
