A chart is chart : A chart may be helpful in planning a Suboxone taper. However, individuals are different and so are doctors. A doctor may have a better strategy not accounted for by a chart. A chart cannot account for pharmaco- genetic, dynamics and kinetics. The same applies for many man made guidelines which neglect many.

Depends: How quickly a Suboxone should be tapered depends on how long you have been on it. When used only for detox, Suboxone can be safely tapered over 3-7 days. When used for maintenance, taper should ideally last several weeks to a few months and even then tapering off the last few milligrams can be tough. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Talk with Dr.: I don't think it's a good idea to give you advice about that here, because there are just too many variables. If you are taking Suboxone by prescription, discuss a taper plan with your dr. If you don't have a dr, get one. It's a felony to take Suboxone without a prescription. Opiate addiction is serious. Most know someone who died from opiate overdose. If we told you wrong, you could relapse.

Keep up abstinence: 10 years is a long time. Your opiate receptors may be missing some of the excitement, but u went a long way to be here. Congratulations. Don't give up. Do sports, socialize, keep busy with pleasurable activities. Treat withdrawal sx as needed, nausea? Pain? Diarrhea.. or is it inly pdychological malaise? Talk  to your GP.and also atten NA meetings for the longest. They are a good reminder!

Probably never: You taper narcotics to avoid withdrawals.  It sounds like if you have not had any yet, you probably will not.

Dropping Suboxone: People very greatly in their difficulties with stopping these drugs. The majority of people seem to have significant difficulty. That said you can get off them it usually means decreasing your dose very slowly over months and weeks and then days. Non-opiate pain relievers Clonidine and other symptomatic drugs can help.

Stopping Suboxone: Why do you want to stop the buprenorphine? It is probably helping you stay off dangerous opiates. You should discuss tapering with your doctor. It's a lot easier to stop after being tapered by your doctor. You have a risk of relapsing back on opiates within the next six months if you too abruptly quit. We can't adequately advise you more about that here on this site. Please seek a professional.
