Take Earlier: Some patients find Suboxone energizing. Try taking earlier in the day and refrain from taking in the late afternoon or evening.I am curious why you are on suboxne for your chronic pain syndrome. Have other meds like snri's such as cymbalta, nortryptyline, lyrica, (pregabalin) Neurontin as well as other opioids been tried yet? Patients with addictions can be managed on opioids safely with very close monitoring.

Yes, it does: Buprenorphine will block the pain-relieving effects of other opioid drugs (like morphine, oxycodone etc.) and if your doctors anticipate that you are going to have moderate to severe pain, the recommendation is to stop the Suboxone 2-3 days before, so that their pain medicines will work. Talk to your Suboxone prescriber about coordinating care with the people treating your anal problems.

Unfortunately: Only a stepped reduction with  non narcotic medication on a prn basis. After weaning is complete, Naltrexone may be added to get rid of symptoms more quickly.

Who is your doctor?: If you are appropriately starting buprenorphine treatment, there should be a doctor who has received a special waiver (with training) who knows how to do it, and that doctor is the one you should be questioning. If you are taking it without prescription, you are putting yourself at risk of precipitated withdrawal if you have recently been taking other opioids. Talk to doctor/pharmacist.

Am not sure what you: Mean by not "reacting to medication normally."  the Buprenorphine will have no effect on your other medications - adderal, Buspar (buspirone) and klonopin, so stopping it will not change anything either.  It is an opioid, and doesn't change your reaction to the other medications in any way that I am aware of. I hope you are getting enough psychosocial support to remain off opiates. Good luck.

suboxone and grapefruit does it make the medication stop working? i like grapefruit and remembered that it interacts with some medications.

Suboxone: We have been prescribing Suboxone for 7 years and have heard no complaints about the grapefruit juice from those that use it. There are medications that are contraindicated for suboxone. Check with your prescriber or run a search or simply check out the the pharmaceutical manufacturer for your medication online.

hello, it's been four days. and i can't feel the pain medication prescribed. since i was on suboxone prior. it seems it's still in me for some reason.

Be Patient: The half-life of Suboxone in the body is up to 2 days so it may still be in your system and affecting the new pain medication you are taking.  I recommend giving the new medication more time to see if it becomes more effective.  You should speak with your prescribing health care provider further about this.

i'm currently trying to get off pain medication. i've tried suboxone, but it puts me through precipitated withdrawal every time. if i take more suboxone, will it stop the precipitated withdrawal?

Yes: Subaxone2/0.5 mg can be used after maintenance and counselling to taper off subaxone for opiod dependence.
