This surgery is safe: Subdural hematoma may be minor, requiring no treatment, or large and life-threatening. Generally surgery is recommended if the hematoma is causing symptoms or is large on ct or mri. The primary risks of surgery are infection and rebleeding, possibly requiring reoperation. The risk of brain injury or long-term side effects is low.

Serious consequence.: Depending on the size this could have very serious consequences including permanent brin damage and death. You need to listen to the advice of the neurologist and neuro surgeon. They spent most of their young lives learning how to treat these life threatening conditions.

How extensive was: her subdural hematoma (SDH)? Is she conscious or in coma now? Very sorry to hear about your mom's fall. The real issue along with that is the herniation in the brain. That is what's serious as that's not reversible, and can put further strain and pressure on the brain. Do spend as much time with her as you can. She's in critical condition. Prayers for miracles are needed!

chronic subdural hematoma. 2nd ct showed no enlargement. main symptom, head pressure -comes & goes. is this common? anything i can take to help healing process or reduce the hematoma? is the pressure a normal feature of recovery and for how long?

Likely normal: If the CT shows no enlargement that is a very good sign.  Hematoma is blood near the brain which will definitely cause abnormal pressure that can be felt as head pressure.  Acetaminophen should be safe to take for the pressure but not much that speeds healing.  but avoid aspirin/ibuprofen/naproxen which could possible cause more bleeding

Cannot say in your p: particular case and complications, serious complications can cause this. If the flow of fluid around the brain is clogged from blood, increased pressure in the head can do this. Sometimes the pressure is not elevated when measured BUT increased space around the brain implies the fluid is increasing (normal pressure hydrocephalus). causes dementia if not shunted away from brain

This can happen: Low sodium can develop after any type of brain surgery. Make sure it is checked daily to make sure it does not go down below 120..Need to go to hospital and get treated.

Depends on extent  : If she fell, the staff must be notified if she's not already on fall precautions, esp. W/history of dementia.If they drilled a hole, she must be on a ns floor.Banging the corner of the eyebrow can be serious ; needs to be examined by the neurosurgeon, neurologist, and/or ophthalmology service(s) to consult on whether further imaging is needed.Talk to her doctors for further details ; recommendatns.
