i noticed my left lower limb is swollen. after a few days other leg got swollen. doppler study shows that bilateral subcutaneous leg edema noted. why?

Could : be many reasons, kidney function needs checking, salt intake  should be limited, venous status needs addressing and cardiac functions. see a doctor to review your medical status

You have an: Ankle sprain, but I'm sure you realized that. Rest, ice, compression, elevation are the treatment. Gentle range of motion exercises while off weight are good too. You should be okay.

Yes : You are probably describing an MRI report and would do well to follow up with your physician to discuss.  The medial and lateral edema described refers to swelling that is present under the skin.  This could represent an injury such as an ankle sprain, or could be inflammatory.  A ganglion is a flyid filled cyst that can cause local irritation and pain, not uncommonly found in the foot and hand.

how bad is subcutaneous soft tissue swelling at the medial aspect of the ankle ? i've had this for a yeah now. can this turn in tumor cells?

No: Subcutaneous swelling in medial ankle region without palpable mass suggests non specific swelling secondary to localized venous insufficiency leading to the swelling.  Tumor would continue to progress with larger area of swelling..  This type of swelling would benefit fro leg elevation if nonospecific.

broke ankle 15 weeks ago.   today my ankle is so swollen and spongey. . .edema. . . .what should i do?

Elevate: Swelling after an ankle fracture can persist for months after the injury. 'Edema', swelling etc .is best helped by elevating the affected extremity ( foot/ ankle) above heart level( mid- chest)and application of an ice compress acutely. With time swelling tends to dissipate; if it persists see your ORS for evaluation and other options( TED hose, Jobes comp.etc.) good luck!

i've twisted my ankle and still have pain on a scale of 10. could it be broken. there us a lot of edema. and it doesn't look any better.

Bad sprains can : Be swollen and hurt for some time. You should be using a brace or cam walker I the pain is that secvere. How are you rehabbing it? And yes, the possibility of a fracture is real. So if it wasn't xrayed yet, that would be a good idea. If pain persists an MRI might be a good way to assess the actual damage.

have used lithium for 10+ years with constant edema of ankles. now have chronic venous deficiency. could lithium have caused this as long use.

Unlikely: Lithium causes problem with the balance of na and electrolytes through the kidney and , yes, can cause edema but mostly just electrolyte imbalances. I am not sure it can cause venous insufficiency on its own.

Why do you have it?: Is it unilateral or bilateral.  Is it something that worsens during the day.  Do you have a heart or kidney ailment.  I need more info to help you. Can be bad veins and many other things.
