Stye: Rec. treatment for full week. and please be careful with hygiene - try very hard not to touch/rub your eyes.

Local heat: The best treatment at this stage is to put a wash cloth in the very warm, but not hot stream of water from your faucet, wring it out a little and lay it over the eye with the inflamed lid.  You must do this diligently: five minutes at a time and about five times per day.  This will usually get rid of the early stye in several days.

Red dot: Such a red small lesion may be a hemangioma which is a tiny growth of capillaries(tiny blood vessels) in the skin. However her physician or dermatologist would have to inspect it for diagnosis.

Could be: Early styes that are internal, will cause diffuse swelling and tenderness.  Only later, if untreated, will it localize to make the bump that you are expecting.  I hope you are using very warm, not hot, soaks 5 times per day to help get rid of this.

my daughter complained of a bug bite to her eye about a month ago, the bug bite turned into a stye that wont go away and now she is waking up with swollen eye on that side? but no other symptoms besides her eye gets itchy and a little sore at times?

See pediatrician: This requires a doc visit, as there may be more to this problem than a simple stye. Regardless, it needs to be resolved to stop her suffering as well.

what is a sty?

Inflammed gland: A sty (stye) is an inflammed oil gland of the eyelid that appears as a red, tender pimple.  It is caused by a bacterial infection of the gland.  Usually, the sty drains & heals on its own.  If the gland becomes blocked, it is called a chalazion and may need to be lanced by a doctor.  You can treat a sty by applying a warm compress for 10 min 4x/day.  Do not squeeze it!

Very warm soaks: The best way to handle an early stye is to soak a washcloth in very warm (not hot) tap water for 4 minutes at a time at least 4-5 times per day.  This will get rid of most of them.  If persistent after several days of this, see your ophthalmologist.
