Common finding: The sensitive linings of the nose has capillaries that break easily with trauma. Suctioning will often stir this up, but it is transient. Often just flooding the nose with nasal saline will loosen the mucous & letting it drain into the stomach is not a problem.

my baby was throwing up every formula bottle he ate for three days and now he is coughing until he throws up and has a stuffy nose. no fever?

Vomiting : This could be associated to a viral syndrome which is very common. However depending on the baby's age if he is in his first  2 months of life and gets fever that requires immediate ed evaluation. In any case the fact that he has been not tolerating anything for 3 days deserves for him to get evaluated asap.  In the meantime trying small sips of pedialyte can prevent dehydration.

i used a saline nasal spray and flonase but it just clogs my nose up worse.

Using too many things in the nose too often can cause a rebound congestion. If your symptoms are uncomfortable or have a temperature greater than 100.5 F more than 3 days, or temperature more than 102 see your doctor. Drink extra water (if you are permitted)

Doctor can evaluate: A primary care doctor can check to see if there is a bad cold (viral infection), a strep throat (bacterial, needs antibiotics), a sinus infection, allergies in the nose and sinuses, infection or wheezing in the lungs (might need asthma treatment or antibiotics), etc...  Usually, fever more than 3 days can mean influenza, or can be another bacterial or viral infection.

i sleep with lavender essential oil on my pillow for sleep, but lately i wake up every day with a stuffy nose. is this normal or an allergy to it?

Not normal: It is not normal to have a stuffy nose every day. Whether this is due to allergy or not requires an examination and evaluation.  The lavender oil per se is unlikely to be the cause for your congestion although the scent may potentially trigger sneezing and even a runny nose. The easiest way is to use another pillow not touched by lavender oil and see if the congestion goes away or not.

URI: It sounds like a cold- use humidifier, elevate the head of the crib or bassinet, and use saline nose drops and suction, especially before feeding.

Allergies: It definitely sounds like allergies and the fact that you were taking medication for this makes it even more likely. I would suggest you go see your doctor for him to decide if you should retake your medication or start some new ones.

Stuffy nose: Depends on the cause.  If it is from a deviated septum, it won't get better on its own.  If it is from the common cold, it usually lasts 5-7 days.  Allergies can last months at a time.  Feel better.

Several causes: When you lie down because of gravity more blood reaches the nasal passages causing some congestion. Plus, if you have dust mite allergy or pet dander allergy (and have a pet sleeping on the bed) the congestion gets further enhanced. Also, your immune system along with your body as a whole is toned down in you are sleep and goes into an active state when you get up.
