i have had like a grey wall cover half my vision or black link ink in my eye ive had my eye checked and nothing also its happened twice in 5 years. if it was a stroke etc would it have gone? i had the temporary blindness since 17?

See Ophthalmologist : Lots of possibilities - stroke, detached retina, glaucoma plus others. Need to see an Ophthalmologist as soon as possible.

Not necessarily: Not necessarily. A stroke involves a loss of blood supply to an area of the brain. The specific type of defect depends on which area of the brain is affected, symptoms can range from visual defects, loss or speech difficulty, difficulty walking or using extremities and so on. The size (and to some extent the symptoms) depends to to  a degree on the size or caliber of the artery involved.

is it possible to be blind after a stroke?

Accepted Answer

Yes: One can lose vision if the ophthalmic artery is blocked.  A stroke could affect the occipital cortex, and indirectly cause unilateral blindness due to a "cortical blindness syndrome".

Too young for: A stroke. Strokes result  ultimately in weakness, and more permanent side effects. You must see a neurologist for evaluation.

i'm taking levothyroxine for a year not knowing my thyroid numbers, today i had temporary vision loss of one eye with symptoms of severe stroke. can't go to er, till tomorrow. should i skip my morning dose until i'll get tested in the er tomorrow?

: I don't think uncertainty of your thyroid status would play much of a role in your episode of temporary vision loss &amp; what you describe as symptoms of a severe stroke. It shouldn't matter if you withhold your thyroid dose for a day. I'm disappointed that you can't get to the ER for an important evaluation to determine whether you had a stroke or not. Could it have been a migraine episode instead?

If on left brain: Strokes secondary to emboli from a distance, most commonly wind up on left side of brain affecting right arm and leg, but one can have weakness on the left due to a stroke on the right side.  Blockage of large, medium, and small vessels can occur in various parts of the brain, and often the brainstem.

yesterday got a veey bad, blinding migraine on left side. today i woke up with horrible, head splitting pain on same side. is it a migraine?

Postdrome migraine: After the migraine symptoms subside, many patients feel exhausted, confused or fatigued. They often complain of a "washed-out" feeling accompanied by a loss of appetite and aching muscles. The postdrome is best described as a dull, diffuse, annoying headache that may persist for one to two days, sometimes severe and disabling.
See orofacial pain or headache specialist for preventive treatment.

every day i become blind for 10 minutes and sharpe lights apear in eye mostly in left side eye?

Ocular/Migraine?: Your description makes me feel that this may be related to migraine headaches.  Need more information for sure.  Vascular disease should not be a consideration in your age group.  Best to talk it over with your doctor.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Any time you go "blind" even if temporarily you should not hesitate to have an eye exam.  This could lead to a more permanent blinding condition.
