my son,35,been having soreness in either 1 or both armpits,only happens if stretches arms up hard, has for over year, now 4 days ago, side of neck hurts only if he bends or coughs, no other symptoms no lumps,goes away with advil,is this serious?

: Any intermittent pain, soreness or limitation of movement should be carefully evaluated by a Dr. A full physical including labs, vital signs and examination may reveal specific causes or associated problems. Only after careful evaluation and diagnosis can the Dr determine if it is something serious or not.

Irritation/musclepul: Sounds like this could be an irritant dermatitis from some exposure to a chemical such as deodorant or mild trauma such as a pulled muscle. If persists or worsens, see your doc for eval and poss tx.

Many possibilities: Your pain could be as a result of many different things. A thorough history and physical exam and possibly some laboratory and radiology exams are needed to determine the exact cause. Causes of pain may include: trauma (fracture, sprain, arthritis), infection, metabolic conditions (gout), musculoskeletal or biomechanical abnormality and neurologic conditions (neuropathy).

Tendenitis: You may have tenonitis of the elbows try rest and Ibuprofen for a week and if no better check with an orthopod.

Examination: It would be impossible to make a diagnosis based on the limited information you can offer in this forum. Where exactly on the chest does it hurt? If it hurts at the junction of the rib and the sternum you might have dislocated the rib,  even just temporarily. You need to be examined to get an accurate diagnosis. Consult a clinician.

Varies : There are a number of potential causes.  There are small joints between the ribs and the sternum and it is possible you injured one or more of them.  Don't hesitate to be seen if you don't improve.

Probably not muscle: It is unlikely that a muscle strain is causing radiating arm pain. The pain description you have given is more consistent with a cervical spine (neck) issue. Fortunately, it is very acute and likely to improve spontaneously. You can take over-the-counter medications and apply heat or ice. If the symptoms persist, worsen or become disabling, see your physician for more testing and treatment.

Stretch marks: The skin can get stretched from rapid weight gain or weight loss. It gets worse in the presence of cortisol.It is usually not painful. May need to see a doctor to ensure no infection or other skin condition causing the pain

Pimple: If its a small pimple antibiotic cream can be tried .If swelling/redness spreads or pain increases or start getting fever or generally feel unwell then oral antibiotics might be needed and would be time to consult doctor.
