stress fracture in my foot about three almost 4 years ago i still get pain in that same spot if i'm on my feet for longer then an hour with supported shoes why would i be still having pain from it and how can i help it?

Podiatrist: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see a podiatrist as use of orthotics may help.

Bone scan is one: Option.  It is a very sensitive test, especially if a 3 phase examination is performed with additional, higher resolution spect/ct imaging to allow comparison between the anatomy (ct) and the bone physiology (spect - a special way to perform nuclear scans, including bone scans).

The radiation exposure of a bone scan is very low, with no side effects.

Mri is also an excellent way to image this.

had stress fracture in foot. wore boot  1 mo. 4 mo. later foot still swollen tho doc said bone healed. no pain just noticeable swelling not improving.?

Stress Fractures: Can cause long term swelling.  Repetitive trauma to an area that underwent a stress fracture will continue to have stress-induced swelling.  If you are not wearing an orthotic in your shoe that helps to displace pressure and impact trauma away from the fracture site, then you will continue to have stress-type symptoms in that area, including post-injury swelling.

Likely healed : Fractures in foot depend on location and time of immobilization, that is being in cast. If not casted weight placed on fracture may slow the healing process.Usually stress fractures are not displaced and should heal in 4 months time if immobilized initially in cast. Usually orthopedic doctor will re xray area of fracture several weeks after immobilization to check on healing and symptoms.

can i still walk my dog with a boot (for stress fracture of foot)?

Foot fx: This depends on the location of the fracture. As long as it is not a fifth metatarsal jones fracture most likely you can bear weight in a protective boot or shoe. Talk with your doctor to be sure.

Reevaluation: I think you should go back and have it reevaluated, may have not healed. Stress fractures are usually in areas with tenuous blood supply and sometimes require some therapeutic augmentation to help them heal.

Instability Stress.: There's only one thing to do. Have your foot evaluated by a foot specialist. There are diagnostic test that can determine if the metatarsal is fractured. There could be other possibilities that could cause the symptoms you are having. Joint instability could also be considered as a realistic cause. Remove all doubt, have it examined.

Stress Fracture?: Stress fracture can present as you described. Discuss the results of the scan with your doctor and don't be afraid to look for a second opinion, it always helps.

i had a small stress fracture in my fifth metatarsal in 9/17 from running. my foot is still sore when i walk too much on the top and bottom of my foot.  i am still unable to run. is that normal?

Difficult healing : 5th metatarsal fractures can be very slow to heal.   This is especially true for “Jones” fractures at the base of the bone.  If you have ongoing symptoms you need to see your orthopedic surgeon or podiatrist
