Yes: You can develop an allergic reaction to most antibiotic preparations. Strep throat can also generate hives or  a rosey colored flat sandpapery rash as part of the illness.

Strep: Makes you feel like you have been run over by a mack truck. The easiest way to  tell the difference is to get a strep test done.

Sxs & Lab Test: Sxs of strep throat: pain of throat; large, red tonsils with white exudates; small red dots on roof of the mouth; swollen lymph nodes on neck; fever, headache, rash, difficulty swallowing, fatigue or rash.  Allergies won't normally cause fever or markedly enlarged tonsils. If in doubt - see your physician.  Rapid strep test & culture are used to determine if suspicious sxs are due to strep or not.

Maybe. Hard to guess: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). Throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin can help decrease throat pain.

Sore throat: How was your allergic reaction treated? Were you given steroids? If so, they may have triggered acid reflux that is now causing your sore throat.  You should consult with your doctor anyhow about your symptoms.

Bicillin LA: Usually does the trick. Can to to American Heart Association for guidelines.

Depends: Strep is universally sensitive to the penicillin based drugs. You need to replace your toothbrush &amp; avoid re-exposure to a source if you seem to have a persistent infection or get it again often.

Check with doctor: Even with a positive strep test, most sore throat symptoms are primarily due to viruses -- and viral infections do not respond to antibioticcs; they have to clear up on their own. Still, you should continue to take the antibiotic as directed; or check back with the doctor who prescribed it and follow her instructions. In any case, you should start to improve soon. Good luck!

Red eyes: More than likely he has developed conjunctivitis from the running which usually accompanies a strep throat. Consult your pediatrician for further care.

See below: In penicillin allergic patients with streptococcal pharyngitis the macrolides-erythromycin, biaxin (clarithromycin) or zithromax as well as Clindamycin are effective.  If the penicillin allergy was only a rash and not immediate hypersensitivity cephalosporin antibiotics are safe and effective.
