RICE: Rest, ice, compression and elevation are the mainstays of early treatment.  After the acute phase gentle progressive stretching should be done several times a day.  Once your are pain free start a progressive strengthening program to prevent recurrent injury.

Rest, antiinflammato: Muscle strain usually responds to rest, and anti-inflammatory medication like ibuprofen. However, if it does not get somewaht better each day, see your primary care physician or an acute care center. Sometimes heat and elevation can also help, but be careful not to get burned by heating pads, etc..

i have a grade 2 strained hamstring i have used ice, compression bandage and elevated my thigh it's been hurting for 2 weeks do i need crutches?

Be seen: I would think that by two weeks after a grade II hamstring strain you would be a lot better.  So if you are still having trouble to the point you are considering using crutches, you should be reevaluated for something more serious.

What was your injury: What was your injury mechanism? Thigh 'strains' are fairly common and can occur w/ eccentric contractions of the muscle (abnormal pull which partially tears the muscle belly).Orthopedically, 'strains ' are usually used in lay terms for 'pulled' muscles while 'sprains' is a lay term usually reserved for partially 'torn ' ligaments( MCL of knee, for example) or tendons(Achilles, hamstring, etc,).GL!

Nothing much: When ever there is physical or emotional pain, it tend to raise blood pressure temporarily.

Meralgia paresthetic: There is a sensory nerve that runs the outside of your thighs, the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve, whenever inflammed, we call this meralgia paresthetica.  There may be other causes too, but since I am a neurologist, that is the best i can come up with.

See doc: Certainly could be as simple as a muscular strain, but would be smart to be evaluated- clots in leg veins can present similarly for example and you need to be examined. Until then, can try some ibuprofen.

Weight race diet: We need to know your body weight and and also racial back ground. AS dark skin people do not manufacture Vit D with sun exposure due to melanin in the skin. They usually have osteopenia due to Vit. D deficiency. The diet is equally important as vegans could have Vit. D deficiency. hence review this with your family physician.

Thigh pain: Consider hip dysplasia, sciatica, muscle strain, tight quads, tight hams, tight hip flexors, spinal spondylolisthesis--get exam and xrays of hips and spine.
