Thigh 'strains' are fairly common and can occur w/ eccentric contractions of the muscle (abnormal pull which partially tears the muscle belly).Orthopedically, 'strains ' are usually used in lay terms for 'pulled' muscles while 'sprains' is a lay term usually reserved for partially 'torn ' ligaments( MCL of knee, for example) or tendons(Achilles, hamstring, etc,).GL!
