Not entirely correct: Ideal BP for all is 120/80. Having said that, as u r young, and if no other co-morbidities, first line treatment for excess BP is lifestyle changes. In other words, after a concerted effort to limit your salt intake to &lt;2000 mg/day, increasing your exercise (even waking 20-25 mins briskly) and effectuating even loss of 5 pounds of weight, BP will improve. Check BP: I suggest checking your blood pressure as symptoms may be due to high BP. Lisinopril 40 mg is 1/2 max dose and Diovan (valsartan) 80 mg is 1/4 max dose. If BP not controlled on lisinopril 40 mg daily, options include increasing dose to 40 mg 2 times a day or adding a diuretic (water pill). Need to consult with your MD.

None except the : Ibuprofen as the surgeon may not want have any extra surgical bleeding that aspirin or similar drugs like the NSAIDs as well as specific blood thinners like Coumadin (warfarin) and newer agents.

Not quite yet: The patents for valsartan and valsartan/hydrochlorothiazide are scheduled to expire in september 2012.  Some company will certainly release a generic product quickly, but when it happens is up to the market and manufacturer.

Antihypertensive: This drug is an angiotensin receptor blocker used to treat hypertension.  It is considered helpful in promoting healing of the kidney tissue and is a good choice in persons who develop a cough on drugs called ace inhibitors (angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors).
