See below: Your hypothalamic pituitary testicular axis will be suppressed after using Testisterone for so many years. Yes, get your 8 AM Testosterone checked 1 month after stopping Androgel , however, it might take few months for your hypothalamic pituitary axis to recover.

1-4 weeks: Very variable, but on ave the med will be out of your system in about 10 days (very variable if measured). Since it is a hormone the effects last longer.  While coming off of it you should be under the care of an endocrinologist experienced in getting people off of the medication as stopping it can be very uncomfortable, but can be made easier. Some people keep sex ability, but have other sx's.

Very Little: Androgel is a topical testosterone preparation used to treat low testosterone in men. Any use in women is off lable and not approved bu the fda. You were likely using it to treat a decreased libido (sex drive). There should be no risks from abruptly stopping it but you should confirm the reason you were perscribed the medication and consult with the physician who perscribed.

Androgel: Hi, yes, the exogenous testosterone can suppress the FSH/LH?testosterone pathway by suppressing the LH/FSH (the hormones secreted by Pituitary gland and stimulate the testis to produce Testosterone), therefore the natural production of Testosterone decreases and also the Testis could shrink down nd also the production of sperms get disturbed.

dx:melanoma while on trt (androgel).  only been using for 2 months; want to stop, though, given new dx.  can i just quit, or do i need to "wean" off?

No need to wean off: Although, you will likely have fatigue and decreased libido.  Depending on the cause of your low testosterone, you may have return of normal testosterone levels after stopping your replacement.  If your hormonal axis returns, it takes at least 3 months after stopping your androgel.

Theoretically, yes: Clomiphene in men increases FSH, LH and testosterone, but I wonder if the testosterone effect would be blunted by 6 years of hormone replacement treatments, maybe the negative feedback is detrimental? Consult your endocrinologist for the definitive answer, but this might just work !!

Diet and Exercise: It is not unusual to have the symptoms you described when you stop Testosterone. It may be estrogen effect as some of your natural testosterone in the body gets converted to estrogen. You can discuss your concern with your Endocrinologist. Meanwhile you can go on anti estrogen diet containing citrus fruits, onions,garlic,cauliflower, and other Vegies and fruits and exercise regularly .

Whoa: If your PSA is high, the question is determining whether you have prostate cancer. If you don't, then you can stay on your testosterone replacement.
