Gastroenteritis?: Viral gastroenteritis (vomiting/diarrhea) is very contageous.  Norovirus/ enterovirus/ norwalk virus are some of the most common causes of outbreaks.  Spread can be stopped by good handwashing (lister was right!).  There are many types of other contageous stomach infections: bacterial (salmonella, shigella, campylo bacter, h. Pylori, c. Diffi); parasites (giardia, cryptosporidia, cyclospora).....

Many possibilities: The most frequent cause is helicobacter pylori, which is a common cause of ulcer disease and can lead to cancer.  There are many other organisms that can cause infection in the stomach, if you are using the term correctly.  Stomach refers to a specific part of the GI tract.  If you are using this word to describe the abdomen (which is common), there are many more bugs possible.

Yes.: The stomach can be infected by a number of different micro-organsims including some bacteria and some viruses.  Certain fungi can also infect the stomach but are uncommon unless the patient has a compromised immune system.  Infections of the stomach can cause 'gastritis' / inflammation of the stomach.  One relatively common stomach bacterial infeciton is helicobacter pylori.

You should not eat: any thing hard to digest such as fried oily fatty foods, dairy products, too much roughage such as green leafy vegetables, or red meats. H. Pylor: If you mean h. Pylori infection of the stomach, the standard course of treatment is 10-14 days of combination antibiotic therapy along with 30 days of an acid reducer.

If you have : A bacterial infection, you will need antibiotics.  You can also try sypmtomatic relief with otc drugs like pepto and tums, (calcium carbonate) but they won't cure an infection.

Do U mean H.pylori?: H.Pylori status is checked with the intention of treating the infection to eradication, when found. Untreated H.pylori may increase your risk of ulceration as well as of stomach cancer.  Don't however confuse a positive H.pylori blood test with actual infection--having the antibody may only mean that at some point you were exposed. Biopsy, breath test, stool antigen assess for active bacteria.

That is really : dependent on type of infection. Assume you are referring to infection somewhere along GI tract. For instance, many people have viral infections (gastroenteritis) that passes on it's own.

Depends: It depends on the type of infection. If it is an infection with helicobacter pylori then it can lead to development of peptic ulcers. If it's a viral infection, aka "stomach bug", then it typically goes away without treatment.
