See doctor...: Coughing blood, called hemoptysis, is a symptom which requires evaluation. The main etiology for hemoptysis is bronchitis but malignancy can also cause it and therefore malignancy needs to be ruled out. If you are a smoker, you need to quit asap and your doctor can also help with this. See your doctor for evaluation and treatment. You may need to go to er if you are unable to urinate.

None: There is no diagnostic blood test for stomach cancer. A biopsy is necessary to make this diagnosis. Usually this is done by a gastroenterologist during an upper endoscopy.

Alcohol: I am very stumped by your question. Any alcohol you ingest will absorb into your blood stream through the lining of the stomach whether you have an ulcer or not.

Treat the ulcer : If a bleeding stomach ulcer is discovered at endoscopy, the bleeding will be stopped during the procedure. Afterwords, the patient will be placed on medication to heal the ulcer. If helicobacter is present in the stomach, it will also need to be treated. If the ulcer is in the stomach, a repeat endoscopy will be necessary in two months. If in the duodenum, it is likely unnecessary. Good luck.

dr thought i may have a stomach ulcer so did an immunochemical stool blood test which was positive. i thought those didn't pick up blood from stomach?

The tests: picks up blood from ANYWHERE in the Gastrointestinal tract and a POSITIVE TEST absolutely indicates that a more complete evaluation is necessary!

EGD: H pylori is checked via biopsy, which is done during a gastric endoscopy (egd.) you won't find it on your basic blood labwork. Your doctor can help with detailed answers. Good luck.

i've just been to the toilet and bright red blood was on the toilet paper and my stools were black with streaks of blood. i have a stomach ulcer?

It's possible: Black stools may indicated blood from the upper GI tract such as your stomach.  Gastritis can be caused by alcohol (as you mention) and also caffeine, ibuprofen, aspirin, advil, naprosyn (naproxen) and other medications.  Please see your doctor to discuss your symptoms soon.  If you have any dizziness, shortness of breath, or chest pain please go to the ER right away.
