stomach bug 6 weeks ago. stomach burning. egd neg gastritis & h pyroli. was on 40 mg protonix. now on 60 mg dexilant. bland diet. cause of burning?

Stomach burning: Do you experience heartburn or actual gerd?  Dexilant is also a ppi like protonix. Occasionally reflux is due to reflux of bile and not acidic material, and in these cases, ppi's are usually ineffective. In addition to a bland diet, avoid fatty,fried or oily foods, alcohol, caffeine and nicotine to see if your symptoms resolve.

Depends on cause. : At this point, it's safe to say that your symptoms are refractory to the PPI (Protonix and Dexilant). At this point, your "dyspepsia" deserves investigation with formal testing.

took protonix 40mg daily but stopped working after stomach bug weeks ago. now on dexilant 60mg for 5 days. how long does it take to be 100% burn free?

Dexilant is a PPI: . PPI's ("Proton Pump Inhibitors")
take around 5-7 days to reach their therapeutic levels but you can (temporarily) BLOCK the acid by using an OTC (Over the Counter) "H-2 receptor" medication (eg: ZANTAC or PEPCID) Ask your pharmacist for a recommendation!

i have constant burning in my stomach. ive seen a gi doctor. ive had an endoscopy done, hida scan and gallbladder removed ive taken, prilosec, protonix, pepcid, antacids and im still burning constantly day and night what can i do for relief?

: If you get acid back in mouth at night elevate the feet of the head of your bed 4-8 inches. Gravity never sleeps. Used to be able to get blocks at Bed, Bath and beyond.

Ulcers and Pancreas: It sure sounds like you need to be seen urgently by your physician.  There are several very scary possibilities causing your symptoms all of which need a thorough examination and blood testing.

Gastritis: You could have inflammation of the stomach lining or peptic ulcer. Follow a soft, bland diet, take a medication like famotidine and acetaminophen.  You could also take antacids like maalox or mylanta. Avoid alcohol,caffeine,nicotine,aspirin and irritants like ibuprofen or naproxen. Drink adequate fluids. Notify your MD if vomiting,black stools or worsening of symptoms occur.

ACID INDIGESTION?: Maybe acid indigestion. What did you eat was it fatty, fried, spicy, eat too late. Many many more questions to answer. Do not eat late or do the above mentioned late at night. Drink some water and have bland food and no caffeine or alcohol until stomach settles.

It is an alert: It is normal in that your body is trying to tell you something. Burning can be gastritis (inflammation of the stomach) perhaps an ulcer or just irritation after a virus. Something is amiss and causing you discomfort. Spicy foods, peppers, alcohol can aggravate. Acupuncture and chinese medicine can really help as can a visit with your physician if it has been occurring three weeks or more.
