Up to 8 weeks: Some relief from heartburn should be felt about 4-6 hours after taking Dexilant. However, significant improvement in symptoms with Dexilant is said to be after about 8 weeks of continuous use. Some other options to help reduce symptoms are to raise the head of your bed 6-8 inches, avoiding certain foods such as alcohol, caffeinated drinks, peppermint, and not eating anything 3 hours before bed.
