Insect bite: What you described suggests an insect bite. Unless the area of rash doubles in size, becomes more painful, you get a fever or the site bleeds, you may leave it alone to heal by itself. If any of the above happens, please see a doctor.

i've been having this odd red rash on my legs that stings when it shows up. been coming and going for years along with red dots.  can it be eczema?

Could be many things: Eczema, contact dermatitis, or even shingles, if you had chicken pox as a child. However, shingles would be rare in an adolescent with a normal immune system. Try switching to a hypoallergenic laundry detergent and bathe with hypoallergenic soaps. Patients with eczema have higher sensitivity to allergens. See a dermatologist if simple prevention does not help.

Rash: You should see you doctor or a dermatologist to have your rash evaluated. There are a number of different possibilities and they can't be diagnosed without examination and testing history of the development of the rash as well as fungal cultures will be helpful. Treatment before adequate diagnosis may make it more difficult to diagnose.

Rash and pain: If the rash and muscle pain are related , medical evaluation is suggested as it could be a rheumatologic condition such as connective tissue disease.

HIVES or URTICARIA: Generalized  hives can be very uncomfortable. Your md might give Epinephrine or Benadryl (diphenhydramine) shot to make you better.

my daughter was stung by a blue bottle last week. shes now developed an itchy rash on her arms and legs. not sure if the rash is related? she is 3 years old

Accepted Answer

Allergic reaction: The itchy rash may be related to the insect sting and a prolonged reaction. Other causes  may include other triggers, including a food reaction.  Use Caladryl lotion three times daily and an antihistamine to control the itchiness. Please follow up with your Pediatrician. Allergy panel testing may be considered.

Observe: It is common for a local reaction to last 1 week or more from a sting or 2. As long as the redness is not expanding and you don't have a fever or difficulty breathing or swallowing,no need for concern.If it is itchy, you can apply hydrocortisone cream 2-3x/day or take an oral antihistamine(if you don't have a contraindication to doing so.Call your doctor if this is worsening or not improving.

Insect bite: Were you able to identify what bit you? Few bites require medical attention. If it was a black widow spider or a scorpion, it will require medical attention. Otherwise, use an ice pack to reduce the inflammation and itch. Apply calamine or other anti-itch lotion and keep the area clean and dry. If you see spreading redness outward from the bite site, you may need to see a Dr.

Fungal infection: Unilateral dermatiis on the inner thigh is probably related to an infection.  You should have it evaluated by your dermatologist.
