It depends what: The std is as different ones require different meds, if it has caused any pelvic organ damage you may need to urgery to fix that, you need to see your gyn or a gyn asap for diagnosis and treatment options.

Probably not: Especially if you have no symptoms of a STD, there is almost no reason to be concerned or tested. But some people only call intercourse 'sex' and think of other physical acts between people like oral, anal or even hand contact as safe. They are not totally safe, so it might be a good idea if you've done those things recently. Probably, you are fine!

STD's w/o treatment : It would be difficult "not to know" if most STD's were present, as most provide symptoms which require an exam by a physician.  Syphillis can last undetected for many years, but routine testing can detect its presence.  HIV can also go undetected until its effects are noticed with other kinds of infection ("opportunistic").

my vagina is swollen and itchy, this is the thrid time in five years and no one knows why. i have been cleared from any stds. i need help.?

Vaginal Health: First of all, eliminate all perfumed or deoderant soaps from the vulva and use dove, caress, or ivory which are mild and non-irritating. Eliminate thongs,  and use cotton crotched underwear. Get out of wet bathing suits, and exercise togs immediately after use. Finally have a gyn md do a wet prep(or smear) of the vaginal fluids for microscopic immediate assessment of the content for infection.

i have had abnormal paps two years in a row and tested positive for hpv.  now i have an elevated wbc.  could this be from an untreated or dormant std?

Yes: it can be elevated from any infection or STD.

: STIs almost never are fatal, except HIV if not treated. Oral STIs do not cause death, whether or not they are treated. And all oral STIs are cleared by the immune system over time. Sore throat or redness are not STI symptoms, and neither is an elevated white blood cell count. You could have a throat swab to check for oral gonorrhea, and blood tests for HIV and syphilis -- probably will be negative

No: If you are monogamous, it is considered protective and not likely for you get an STD. Certain STDs such as herpes, can be present dormant and can be transmitted years later from its date of infection

: The tests are reliable in showing that infection is absent at the time of testing. For some STDs, it is not possible to know if there was an infection in the past that now is gone. Most STDs are cleared by the immune system, even without treatment, over a few weeks or months. Herpes and HPV are exceptions, but usually harmless.

Depends which STD: Some can cause infertilty and tubal blockage or a chronic endometritis, your gyn cab determine if you have problems like that.

STD: Std can scar your fallopian tubes and yes, make it difficult to conceive.  This is especially true for untreated std's.  Make an appointment to to talk to your doctor about your concerns, if you have not had the std treated, it is very important to get that treated.
